Very happy to see that it is going so well with the X10 . We are all looking forward to the updates that correct the minor bugs and make this phone the one that many of us want it to be .

XPERIA X10 is now out there in the stores in many countries. As some of you already noticed the launch created a big buzz in e.g. Japan.
There is a huge interest in the product and apparently DoCoMo’s pre-orders of Xperia exceeded 50,000 units which is really cool! At launch day it created more or less chaos in some of their stores and some of my colleagues there sent me some pics from the launch as seen below.
Here in Sweden sales started just in time for the Easter holidy and it has been recieved very well. I’m really glad to see the positive response we’re getting in different forums all over the web where people describe their first experience with the product and seem to like it a lot
We’ve noticed that some of you here also got your X10 now and as usual feel free to share your impressions, give us feedback and discuss tips and hints here in the comments section! As said earlier all your feeback is read, gathered and forwarded to the development project.

@Rikard, very happy with the phone, my only issue is with the letter “A” often it’s not responding, many people have this issue. Apart from that it’s a super phone

Hi,
The phone is great but the integration between X10 and Outlook is not that good and also the integration between the local adressbook and Facebook when it comes to pictures.
I also thought there where going to be an possibility to use Flickr in the Mediascape but I only found Picasa, maybe it’s only me.

Hiya…
I’m sorry to be negative…
I’m glad it’s all going well for the X10, I ended up getting the Desire.. I’m not a big mobile buff, but everything I heard comparing the X10 to the Desire made the Desire sound better aside from the camera, which is still pretty good…
Is there anything that you S E experts know that can convince me? I’ve still got a week to give the desire back if I can be convinced?

Almost bought the Desire too after reading all the flack the X10 was getting, but being a long time SE fanboy (way back since the Ericsson days), I took the plunge and went for the X10. Don’t regret it at all… I did have to change the keyboard, downloaded another one (there are tons of great ones on the Android Market), and the call volume could be a tad louder. I think the volume is good now but I’m in the maximum setting, a little leeway would be better. Plus, everytime I look at my phone it looks waaaaaaaaay cooler and really happy that I have a camera in there that’s at least usable for incidental snaps.

@bamoah. That 3d app is made by Ericsson not Sony Ericsson. I’d like it too kut it seems like a proof of concept to me.

I have actaully noticed some other button not respondning as they should, one common denominator for all theses buttons are that the are located on the edge of the screen. They way I’ve solved the problem is that I hold the button a little longer, then they buttons recognized properlly.Observ that the screen seems to sence even fast touches on these button (as the button lights up) but the button then does nothing (like being transfered to the textbox or opening a new screen)

@Bengt-Göran Johansson, I’m also find it a little bit too difficult to import and even sync my contacts! Maybe my skills doing that kind of stuff aint good enough but I have no Exchange server for my mail account and could’t manage Outlook to sync my local contacts.
Have also tried to correct them through http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/cws/community after import contacts by sim but that didn’t fully work as well (due to info in the userguide that says there will only be namen and one number imported)…
Think that there is some kind of trouble with pictures or to much information in the contacts e.g mail- and postal adresses.
Anyone else having this problems or know where I can get support?

Generally loving the X10, really nice hardware and timescape/mediascape work really well.
On the basis of 5 days usage I’ve noted the following:
1) The SE keyboard is pretty poor unfortunately – I find it much less accurate than the default android one (narrower keys?). Also the android one offers handy shortcuts to punctuation via a long press – this is much easier than having to flip to the numeric keyboard. I do miss the directional arrows from the SE keyboard though, as positioning the cursor by touch alone is difficult.
2) Mediascape Album Art: it would be handy if you could publish technical details on what is/isn’t supported as I have a number of files for which the album art does not appear on the phone, but is visible in Media Go and other PC apps. Attempting to “Get album art” from the phone (nice feature btw) for those files fails with an “album art already exists” error – so it clearly recognises that the art does exist (I’m very keen on album art – can you tell?)
3) One of my favourite features of WinMo 6.5 is that the unlock screen displays upcoming appointments – would be a nice feature for the X10 too
I realise there are 3rd party apps to do this, but they’re fairly ugly.
But apart from that – seems like a great phone – hopefully it will sell very well

One more thing – it would be really nice if you update contact photos from facebook.

Anyone know if it’s possible to set increasing ring on X10?
Would be great to have that function but I couldn’t find it.

malcolm: Album art is generally read in two ways: Linking and embedding.
Most PC based softwares can read both kinds, but a lot of portable devices would only recognize album art directly embedded into the mp3 file. I’ve noticed this in Sony, SE, Sandisk and Creative devices.
One way to embed album art into your songs is to look for them via Windows Media Player library. It automatically finds and embeds the album art for you.

A display that supports MT and a clear promise to release an update to android 2.x before the end of Q3 and you would have seen the same kind of lines in Europe too.

@Sandeep – cheers for the info, but sadly that’s not the case in this situation. All of the affected tracks have embedded art (either by dbPoweramp or as supplied by 7digital.com). I wonder if there is either a size restriction (I’ve not had time to analyze the art in detail but I know some of my tracks have 800x800px artwork embedded) or possibly a more subtle jpeg encoding issue.
The Media Experience Panel on the X1 was even more picky about album art, so things are improving – but it would be nice to have some documentation (or better yet a fix!). Kinoma Play on WinMo could read _everything_ so it’s definitely achievable
It’s a very minor issue really, but I thought I’d mention it. There are probably more pressing matters for the SE dev team to address first.
