Vivaz Video Shot by a Real Pro

As Vivaz now is launched and starting to roll out in more and more countries all over the world the buzz it’s making about its great video recording capabilities is really cool. It’s main features in regards to video recording is of course the 720p HD-resolution but I would say that the contious auto focus while filming is something that really adds a dimension.

Some fellow marketeers in the world started to create cool videos in cooperation with famous movie makers – challenging them to use the Sony Ericsson Vivaz for their shoots.

There will hopefully be more of these coming but first out are my friends in Norway who challenged Norwegian ski film maker Filip Christensen to hit the slopes with the Vivaz as his video tool of the day:

Remember to choose “view on YouTube” and make sure to choose 720p to experience the full quality.

I will have to admit that he seems to manage to hold is Vivaz more steadily while skiing than I do standing still, quite amazing :-)

For you out there shooting your own cool clips – please feel free to share your YouTube uploads among the comments!

We launched this blog in September 2008 as an experiment to see how engaging with the wider blogosphere could broaden our horizons, get people talking and help our customers by providing them with more specialised information. We’ve had nearly a million hits and thousands of comments, it’s been a great learning curve for us and we hope the blog has proved useful to you.

However, the way we see the Xperia brand has changed significantly since we announced the Xperia X10, Xperia X10 mini and Xperia X10 mini pro.  It’s now absolutely at the heart of our portfolio. So… it makes sense that we move the Xperia related content over to our new product blog in time for the X10 launch.

As of the first of April, we’ll shut this site down and move everything to blogs.sonyericsson.com/products then the posts from Aaron, Me, and the team at Wolfstar will continue there.

Thanks ever so much for reading, and we look forward to reading your comments on the product blog.

Time is flying by and we are just a short while away from the launch of 2 new really unique products: Xperia X10 mini and Xperia X10 mini pro. I honestly have to say we all at Sony Ericsson have been really excited when we have presented them first time to the public at the Mobile World Congress. Not only because  they are very unique but also because moreless no rumors were circulating in the web about the “pro” version at that time. And actually this rarely happens in our industry. So lets speak speak more about them on this blog now. Just one line about myself before. I am Global Marketing Business Manager for Xperia X10 mini pro beside a number of Walkman devices.

Since the early product planning days we named the proposition “Compact and Clever” and kept it until now since there is just no better description. Small as a credit card whilst offering best-in-class entertainment performance.

The touch navigation has been optimised for compact screens and offers users the easiest way to connect and communicate with one hand.  For those who prefer quick texting and emailing with two hands, look for the Xperia X10 mini pro with its full QWERTY slider keypad.

The pocket-sized handsets enables you to customize the Homescreen as you like.  Just drag and drop your favourite apps from Android Market, games, movies, music or emails etc. in any of the the four customisable touch corners.

Good fun and very helpful is the Sony Ericsson Timescape widget.  It presents all your latest communication events on the homescreen in chronological order. See your SMS, missed calls, Facebook and Twitter updates in one place. Very useful: The status can be directly updated in Facebook and Twitter from here. Also very helpful: Pictures or videos can be posted straight from the camera app to Facebook and YouTube. Super quick and easy.

Very nice and entertaining is the infinite button in the music player.  Press it when enjoying a music track and get transported to related content on YouTube and PlayNow.

Both devices will launch on Android with the useful Google™ services and access to thousands of apps from Android Market.

The QWERTY keypad of the X10 mini pro will be available in 13 different language keypad versions. I must honestly say that we are very satisfied having received so excellent marks for the usability in the early user tests. Despite the compact overall size of the device, the keypad is larger than the ones of common stick devices available on the market. The increased space between the lifted keys makes typing really quick and easy, even for women with longer fingernails.

More information will be shared. Enjoy reading.

As announced a while ago there is a consumer research program around X10 in the works. The research program is a bigger thing but we here at the blog got the opportunity to recruit some of the research candidates. Many of you applied and some of you got chosen. Now it’s live. This wednesday I got to join Sumit in one of the start up interviews and getting started moments here in Stockholm. Me and Sumit visited Peter, who also runs a blog at www.DailyAndroid.se, asked a lot of questions and finally got to the part where he was to unbox his X10 and get started with settings, services and applications. The first meeting is of course around background and the initial thoughts of getting the X10 in his hands but there will be further follow up posts over time.

I’m sure that Sumit will get back here with more of Peters feedback soon but I just thought I would highlight that it is ongoing and post some pics I shot with Vivaz during our visit.

Another thing to highlight is of course also the fact that XPERIA X10 is now about to hit the stores. Availability is different in different countries but e.g. here in Sweden it will be in stores just in time for Easter, i.e. 31st of March.

Manish – Mr. 2000 Comments

I’m still amazed by the engagement found among you the readers of this blog. Since it started as the Satio Launch Blog in September last year many of you have been very active among the comments which really is what brings this blog to life. Of course the comment section is a place for you to ask us questions and let us know what you think about things and we really try to keep up and answer everything that we can. However some of you have really taken the comments section to another level by being there on a regular basis, helping us answering questions, engaging in discussions and sharing interesting finds from other places.

I can’t really thank you enough for that but at least I can highlight it from time to time with some examples :-)

So here we go,

Manish has been here among the comments since his first comment on September 9 2009 and recently he passed the 2000 comments mark! (That’s over 10 comments per day in average!) Truly amazing! To highlight this I contacted him with a few questions for this post. Here he is: Manish!

And here are the questions and his answers:

-          Which is the comment you are most proud of?
This one goes really difficult for me and now when i’ve reached 2000 comments on this blog it’s even more difficult for me. But after a lot of thought, i guess my first comment, the comment as an applicant for the Satio Test Pilot! That was the first time i came across this blog and since then it’s been real good time for me. And m really proud of it. It has been a real great community and thank you everyone who has ever been a part of it. :)

-          Who will be the first to pass 3000 comments?
Guess the one who buys a X10 and falls in love with it. Practically, it could be anyone, if you announce some reward program for it. :) Although, would love to see you at that landmark.

-          What phone do you use at the moment?
At, the moment i use Sony Ericsson W700i. My First ever phone that i bought, when i first got into the college. :) I still love it!

-          What phone do you dream of? Hmmm.. X10 with no second thought or even first! ( I guess any regular user of the blog would guess that. :) ) Although, a few years back i wanted SE to develop the ‘rumored W990‘, so that i could get my hands on it! :D
