The Basics of Vivaz

I just wanted to post a very simple video to show the basics of Vivaz; that is, how it looks like when you make a phone call or an sms.

I understand from the comments of this blog that a lot of you are very well up to date of the functionalities of Sony Ericsson phones. For those who have or have tried Satio you will recognize the user interface structure. One difference on Vivaz is that you can click up or away the shortcut area at the bottom of the screen by clicking the red call button. This functionality allows you to access the shortcuts from all of the 5 main panels.

Good phone but it isn’t so better than Satio so I don’t know why to throw out a model like this.

Ok it has a bigger CPU (a powerful Cortex A8) running @ 720Mhz and this is really really good it has also HD Video, but it has a 8MP camera with flash led and small 3.2″ display.
Vivaz isn’t better than Satio and Satio isn’t better than this.

Im curious to know what changes have been made to the OS or if there´s still the same satio issues. If they solved this than there’s hope that we’ll get huge satio FW update. From what i see till now the home screen is much better… and there is animated wallpapers that we all miss from A200. If they achieve that on vivaz then there´s no reason why they dont added this on satio in the next firmware, right?

Now we really can talk about something new. :P

@Anders Lindell: yeah its true, no smilies in the Satio
@Noc: I personally like the Satio homescreen wayyyyyyyyy better. Whats up with the big black box that pops up… Besides I want to access the music and other shortcuts asap, not having to push the red phone button first. Hope they wont change that in the next update.

    Wooh..hooo!
    Kinetic scrolling! :D
The more i see this, the more i like it. I think, satio users will be really pleased to find Kinetic scrolling system-wide as in Vivaz.
Except for the five panels seems to be custimizable with facebook and twitter widgets, i don’t see it much different from Satio five panels.
And the shortcut bottom bar is handy and it doesn’t take your screen real estate either. :)
    P.S.
    Welcome sir!
Hope to see more of these tutorial videos and some camera samples. Dying to see the 720p magic form this beauty. :)

    Dear David,
Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson support centre.
We regret to inform you that we have yet to be supplied with a definate date for the release of the Sony Ericsson X10 handset.
It is beleived to be released within the next 4-6 weeks but this will also depend on when networks choose to take the handset.
With regards to the Android version supplied, it is currently being decided whether to release it with Version 1.6 and supply an update, or wait and release it with version 2.0/2.1.
It will definately have Android 2.0/2.1 at some point.

    Kind Regards,
    Liam Wardley

Well, this could be totally wrong and please don’t blame me for this-but what i’ve heard form my insider is that the Phone would definitely hit shelves on or before(take it feb 9th to feb 21st) MWC WITH 2.0.1, if something terribly goes wrong they might revert back to 1.6( yes, 1.6 if perfectly compiled as of jan 18th with no further modifications whatsoever ) and come with the update in march just before the release in japan.( April 1st ) :D
This also means the testing is now being done on 2.0.1 and 1.6 has already got it’s Final Build. :)
Yeah, theres sad news as well, No equalizer and no DiVx support. :(
And for other phones, Vivaz will see the stores before X10, so thats coming anytime. :) Kanna, won’t see in MWC!
Timescape and Mediascape SDK would also be released in MWC, and that is huge.
If this is true, X10 would blow the MWC. :D

i really like the phone. Nice OS and it feels pretty responsive. however I have a question. Why do SE use resistive touch screen? I didn’t buy satio because it has resistive touch screen. otherwise i would have bought it.

@Mattias, David or Erik. Can you do a poll here on the blog about if users prefer resistive or capacitive touch screens.?
However I could guess that it is not up to the users. I guess SE uses the technology which gives them best profit. Maybe resistive is a bit cheaper? I don’t know.

Here is another detailed video of NTTdocomo’s X10 from Touch and Try event. :)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyINK6T1_BU&feature=related
    P.S.
    - No sound in the video might really boar you.
    - Perhaps they have already plugged in their filter in Timescape. ( the one with three red stripes just before facebook icon. )
    - Whenever something updates in your timescape, you don’t only see the little arrows in the notification bar at the top, but also the Icons in the Timescape at bottom turns to sync icon.
    - Isn’t this sample damn fast. :D
    - Why does the videos from Youtube widgets opens up in the default android player, why doesn’t this use the Mediascape player? :(
    - And if you noticed the album art while playing the songs is now not shown full screen ( i loved that ), it’s centered on the screen with the mirror effect at the bottom. :(
@ rik, does your Mediascape player ( with latest build ) shows album art in full screen or the way it is shown in the video. :?:

Finally, got a video that explains in real time the Face-reocgnition Magic in X10. :)
The NTTdocomo X10′s are really fast. I want to see some another video that is as fast as those in the NTTdocomo videos, else i would bug my mind to think, they have some special version of X10. :(
