Great to Talk Vivaz!

Hello everyone!

First of all it feels great to finally be able to talk about Vivaz with everyone and also to use the phone in public. So many people within Sony Ericsson have been planning and developing this phone to what you now see in the pictures, videos and can read about in the press release.

As Mattias pointed out Vivaz will launch within this quarter so I really encourage you to take a look at a real phone as soon as it is out in the stores. It’s both the looks and the feeling of holding it in your hand that make the design special; this is a bit hard to explain through this blog. Meanwhile, me and my colleagues will add pieces of more information, videos etc during the coming days and weeks.

Looking forward to be part of the discussions!

Vivaz looks good, but I think people who follows this blog will have more interest in X10 than Vivaz.

@Johnson: on market there is a cake called Symbian, there are many users “who” enjoy Sony Ericsson & Symbian as Piotr :) . People love/hate different os
This phone seems very light, fresh, for young & agile people. I really like the ergonomic design and the color blue and it seems very thin and with 4 color seems very versatile, I think it’s a phone that can be carried in a jean
@Daniel: which is the cost(free)of this phone, to my knowledge, is a very cheap phone :)

I like Vivaz very much. even besides the fact it has Symbian the fifth edition! I dislike that OS but I like it. I think SE should do more UI costumizing. I like the CPU speed besides the fact that the X10 has a 1GHz :D The Animated Wallpapers is certainly a refreshment! A nice one and from what i’ve seen it’s smooth. I like that the Entertainment Unlimited has SE’s media center! I love the design and the colors :) very very nice. A very high appeal…
Hmm besides the megapixels in camera downgrade and HD, the continuous auto focus video is nice. As is the 720mhz processor. I do have the feeling there will be another satio FW update. Sounds good. And why oh shy didn’t SE learnt they should of installed DviX? It’s just like in satio’s case. This blog is to hear us out :)

    anders,
Regarding the yellow background – It’s one of the ones included to choose from, I have it in my sample at least. It’s more orange than yellow though in real-life.

    Rickard,

Ok, thanks, one question are Timescape in some way dependent on a good/fast connection i.e. 3G network connection, i can see that when people use timescape there are some small arrows in the top left corner (is timescape fetching data ongoing) maybe that’s because we see some lagging. if not when is new data collected ( twitter, facebook)

    maybe i explained bad ;-)

Yes – Those arrows indicate that something is being downloaded. If I pull down the status bar while they are there I have two ongoing “notifications”. One of them is “Downloading from Twitter” and the other is “Downloading from Facebook”.. I guess that could be one explanation to different performance between different clips but I haven’t really though about the performance being that much different during use though. However the first rendering of timescape seems to be quicker if it was recently used (and things downloaded) but that could of course be because of the app itself being “on top” of the multitask memory also. I’m in no way an expert on memory handling in Android though so I might very well be far off track here :-)

    Hi Rickard,

Can you additional applications into Timescape i.e spotify, blogger.com (blogs) etc..

Also, is it possible to have some more info/video on the face recognition possibilities?

    Hi Rik,

I’m back after some time! Great pics from the X10, great to see Stella take to the X10 like a fish to water and the Vivaz looks appealing!

I see a lot of UI improvements in the Vivaz that takes it closer to A200 than the Satio ever was. Even when it comes to speed. My question is whether these features (Some, if not all of them) would be available on the Satio in the form of a firmware update, considering both handsets don’t differ much when it comes to the hardware platform used.

    Anders,
Yes – As a developer you are able to create plug-in functionality in your application for plugging into Timescape. E.g. A Blogger client can internally “post” events in the Timescape tile of events.
Thanks for the reminder on face recognition!

    Welcome back Sandeep!
Regarding Satio update – I’ve said earlier that there is one in the works, I’ll see what I can find on your question!
Seeing you again reminds me – Did I ever send you those updated pics from the Pureness concept store where your name was visible on the printed pics?
