Announcing the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

Today we announce the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, our first phone based on the Android OS. We think this phone will be something extra and are incredibly excited about the launch!

With Xperia X10 we hope to add our entertainment heritage to the Android OS. We also introduce the newly created UX platform, built upon Open OS, which will evolve across the product portfolio and expand over time.

Would you rather have this phone as soon as possible – or have to wait Another 2-3 months just because it does not have Eclair?…
    Give thems some slack.
I have tried Hero a few times and the android UI is slick and fast. Of course I’d like the Eclair but it’s not a key selling point.

@PUX: You should not worry about the update Android 2. you please understand that it takes time to update applications SE Timescape™ ,SE Mediascape™, and SE Home application. It is like passing from Vista to W7. You need time to update the application software. I think the S.E. team is working hard to surprise us with Android 2.1

This is really a message and plea to Sony Ericsson regarding the X10.

Sony Ericsson, I am rooting for this phone. Potentially, this phone could be the revolution! I am begging Sony Ericsson to please smooth out the suspected bugs/problems in the first release of the X10. They should ensure that the 4″ screen is really bright with the option of adjusting for brightness. They should ensure that the experience is not a boring mono-blue in every screen. Picture quality should look wet and sharp. I hope it can synch with an apple laptop. Reading various reviews, the test units appeared to be plagued with poor battery life, lagging and hesitant responses, etc. Sony Ericsson, please iron out all these problems. Ensure that the homepage is as exciting as the HTC HD2. Please release the phone with the latest Android OS (pls not the Donut – even that name leaves one with a sinking feeling). Why would you release a flagship phone with an inferior OS when a better one actually exists? Why let down the experience. I’d rather wait till June for you to release the ultimate. Go on SE, knock out the competition. Get it perfect from the outset. Ensure the X10 comes with LOUD high quality stereo speakers. Please disappoint the critics. Looking forward to the X10.

Am I the only one who cannot understand why a mobile phone announced in Nov 09 will be released five months later??? There should be no reason for this. It’s almost laughable and this is not the first time this has happen – I am an X1 owner!

SE should perhaps take a leaf out of Apples book.
